The Fusion burgers

By James Cooper

The burgers at Fusion are simply damn good. If you haven’t been to Fusion you must go. The interior is a bit gaudy, but cute in its own way. It is dimly lit, and there are completed puzzle pictures on the walls detailing magical scenes of dolphins, fairies and enchanted vistas.

We ordered a burger with the lot and a cheeseburger, both pictured above were great burgers. The chips were great, hot, crunchy and yum! Some of the best I have had in Honiara.

The LOT ($120)

The Lot is similar to the Big Mac in that it has a dividing piece of bun between the two layers of burger. It was of course far more delicious than a Big Mac! It really is a burger with everything… it is a bit staggering here is what it contains!

Top Half of the Burger

  • Burger Bun
  • Seared Pineapple
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Cheese
  • Beef Pattie
  • Cooked Onions
  • Bacon

Bottom Half of the Burger

  • Fried Egg
  • Beetroot
  • Tomato
  • Lettuce
  • Beef Pattie
  • Burger Bun

As you can see, the burger is huge!

The Cheeseburger ($80)

Deceptively, the cheeseburger is actually a double cheeseburger and it was a bit mind blowing. It consists of only the essentials; double cheese, some BBQ sauce, cooked onion and beef patties. My eating companion said, and I quote, after smashing the cheeseburger that she “felt kinda high” (note: kids don’t do drugs, eat a cheeseburger instead) and “that was an intense burger experience”.

You really couldn’t fault either burger and at the end of it, we were stuffed and yet still wanting just one more bite. Each burger tasted great from the buns, to the patties, to all the other components. Between the two burgers if – sorry – when I go again, I would opt for the cheese burger, the lot whilst amazing in some ways just out does itself.

If you feel in need of some comfort food, then head down to Fusion and get a burger that reminds you of one from your local fish ‘n’ chip shop.

The Fusion Cafe is located below the Sea King Restaurant in Honiara and is open Monday to Saturday. Their phone number is 28280.

    • It is located off Mendana Avenue. At the traffic circle (round about) between Central Market and the Mataniko River, take the road towards the sea. The entrance is on your left and Fusion is located downstairs. If my directions are not helpful, maybe calling the restaurant on 28280.
