Honiara resident, Leanne Anderson will be flying to Sydney in the first weekend in May to take part in the Relay for Life, which raises money for much needed cancer research.
Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries participate in the Relay for Life movement. The relay is an outdoor overnight event where teams take turns to walk or run around a track. Events are up to 24 hours long and each team has at least one participant on the track at all times. Leanne will be walking through the night around an oval in Penrith – sure to be a bit chilly compared to Honiara!
Relay For Life is also about communities across the globe coming together to honour cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Leanne will be participating to remember and honour members of her family and good friends who she has lost to cancer, as well as those who are currently fighting the disease.
